Easy to miss, this cafe is a great spot to work, especially for those who are fans of plants and natural light.

Ultreya Coffee and Tea is located near SDSU, and can be easily missed if you’re not in the know about it. It’s not visible from the street, which makes the cafe not as frequented as some of the other coffee shops in the area.

Unlike other coffee shops in San Diego, there’s really not a lot of competition for parking here. There’s a huge lot with spots right out front available, and then a side street with curbside parking.

Once inside the cafe, you’ll notice plants and fun tarot designs dominate the space. They have some unique drink offerings, namely the Vegan Vietnamese and Chagaccino. Expect a single drink price to range from $6 to $8 depending on what you get. I also appreciate the amount of vegan offerings they had on their food menu as well as their pastries (high recommend on the vegan coffee cake).

A cozy cafe interior with a vibrant yellow accent wall, decorated with potted plants and wooden shelves. Several wooden tables with colorful stripes and black chairs are arranged throughout the space. There is a laptop and a drink on one of the tables. The wall features a cafe logo.

As for the lobby, the tables can be a bit wobbly depending on which one you end up getting so shake them a little before you sit down. There’s a lot of seating available inside and there’s also a decent amount of outdoor seating here which was great for moments that I had to take video calls. Outlets are available for tables inside oriented near the walls.

This coffee shop is relatively unknown to most people (as you can tell in the pictures above), so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a spot to sit. I’d just be wary around when SDSU is in session as I’ve been here when students are cramming for finals week and I wasn’t able to find a seat. Otherwise, I’ve become a regular at this spot since it’s pretty reliable when I need to get a few hours of work in.
