Spill The Beans is a spacious modern cafe in Mission Valley great for working with others. Limited parking, uncomfortable seating, and lack of outlets should be considered before heading here.

Spill The Beans is a recent addition to Mission Valley, catering primarily to the area’s newer developments, particularly sterile apartment complexes with really high rent prices.

You’ll find that the parking lot has a lot of terms dictated by the Townsend apartment complex next door. From what I could discern, spots behind the coffee shop are fair game to park in for 24 hours. There are some spots on the street, but just know that parking is pretty abysmal and you’re likely to circle a few times.

Spill The Beans has a lot to offer when it comes to their menu. You’ll find a decent list of specialty drinks, and they have a full kitchen with breakfast sandwiches, bagels, all day sandwiches, and bowls available for purchase. I had a large oat milk vanilla latte which ran me about $8 before tip. A 12oz drip coffee will cost you $4.

The café has an impressive amount of seating with the majority of it actually outside which is really nice. Their patio is quite spacious, and you’ll pretty much be guaranteed a large table to work off of which is ideal for co-working/studying with others. Interior seating is more limited, with smaller table space. There are also no outlets available at any of the tables, so ensure you’re fully charged before heading here.

The seating here is quite uncomfortable with the classic café bar stool from hell that you’ll find in many modern establishments these days. Zero padding on any of the furniture, but you’ll find that some of the bench seating has back support.

Wi-Fi speeds are decent, I wouldn’t do anything here that requires intensive data transfers. Odd note on the Internet here is that Reddit is blocked on the network for whatever reason so if you have to reference Reddit during your work, you won’t be able to.

Overall, I’d recommend this spot as a good place to work especially if you need to meet and collaborate with others with the caveat that parking is not convenient, the seating is a bit hostile, and you’ll need to come with fully charged devices.
