If you like plants and lots of natural light, this North Park cafe might be perfect for your afternoon study.

Moe Coffee is set on the street corner between Kansas and Howard St. in North Park. It’s one of North Park’s newer installations built in 2020, and has a lot to offer as a cafe and as a workspace. Parking in the area is usually pretty easy to come by with one particular exception. On the second and fourth Monday and Tuesday of every month, the city tickets for street sweeping from 7AM – 10AM so the spaces available become more scarce.

The interior of the cafe is decked out with plants and has a roll-up garage door that allows for a natural breeze to come through. There’s sevendedicated tables (three indoor, four outdoor) that can seat 4 to each, one large community table in the middle of the cafe that seats 12 total, and a table against the window that seats three. Outlet access is pretty sparse, you’ll have to sit against the window or at one of the three indoor dedicated tables. Seating isn’t the most comfortable with no cushion available; you’re working either metal stools, metal chairs with back support, or wooden benches.

In terms of coffee, the cafe has a full espresso menu with milk alternatives, tea options, and a large menu for food. You’ll find that prices are on the higher end; my purchase was $8.25 for an vanilla oat milk latte.

Food offers include “breakfast bites” like pastries and breakfast sandwiches, “tasty toasts” like avocado toasts, “hot bites” like paninis and BLTs, and salads. Smoothies and kombucha are also available if you’re looking for an alternative to coffee.

Wi-Fi was reliable but not fast at 6MB down, 3MB up. Noise levels weren’t distracting, pop music was playing with minimal noise from other patrons as everyone else in the cafe were also on their laptops working. The cafe is set next to an intersection, so car noise and the occasional homeless person that yells is probably the most distracting thing that’ll happen here.

The single person bathroom is one of the cleanest I’ve come across in a cafe and is actively refreshed by staff. It has a motion detection sink faucet, huge mirror, and paper towels that are multiple ply.

I’d recommend Moe Coffee shop for your next daytime study session. The natural light, breeze, and plant life really add to the cafe experience. Paired with fully charged devices ahead of time, you should find yourself being able to get a few hours of quality work in.
